On April 11, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited Asia Trafo, the largest transformer plant in Kazakhstan and one of the leading ones in Central Asia, located in Shymkent.
The plant specializes in the production of high-voltage oil-immersed power transformers and autotransformers (110, 220, 500 kV) with capacities up to 500 MVA, as well as shunt reactors for power transmission lines.
This is the first facility in Kazakhstan to manufacture such complex equipment, which was previously only imported.
The President toured the production site and met with engineers and young professionals. The founder of Alageum Electric Group, Saidulla Kozhabayev, presented the company’s achievements to the Head of State.

Why is Asia Trafo important for the country?

    • Its products are supplied not only to the Kazakhstani market but also to CIS countries and Eastern Europe.
    • The plant has a design capacity of over 12,000 MVA per year.
    • Over the past five years, more than 5 billion tenge have been invested in research and development, including 3 billion from the company’s own funds.
    • In 2023, the plant assembled the country’s first three-phase autotransformer with a capacity of 250,000 kVA (500 kV), weighing nearly 300 tons.
Asia Trafo is part of Alageum Electric Group, which unites transformer plants in four cities across Kazakhstan. These enterprises aim to fully meet domestic demand.
The Group also actively supports social projects: over the past three years, approximately 7 billion tenge have been allocated for charity, school construction, and aid to flood-affected regions.

At a ceremonial event honoring citizens for their active participation in flood relief efforts, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recognized several business leaders who made significant contributions to regional aid efforts.

Among those honored was Saidulla Kozhabaev, Founder of Alageum Electric Group, who received the "Altyn Barys" badge and a letter of appreciation from the President of Kazakhstan.

"Significant funds for flood relief were allocated by domestic entrepreneurs. In doing so, they demonstrated genuine care for their homeland. This is the true responsibility of business and its commitment to the interests of the people," said President Tokayev.

It is worth noting that Alageum Electric Group allocated over 1 billion tenge to aid Kazakh citizens affected by the floods.

For the first time, the "Asia Trafo" LLP plant produced and shipped transformers to the Republic of Azerbaijan. Two TDNS-25000/35/10 kV transformers, along with their components, were delivered to the site. Currently, the transformers are in Baku, awaiting the site's readiness following the completion of the supervisory installation works

During the 14th Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress, held on June 6-7, 2024, in Astana, a ceremony took place to sign a long-term contract with ERG for the supply of furnace transformers. We express our gratitude to ERG for their trust and longstanding support, which has taken our cooperation to a new level, aiming to expand the range of Kazakhstani equipment. This is a significant contribution to Kazakhstan's economy and a stimulus for the development of domestic electrical engineering.

The Astana Mining & Metallurgy (AMM) Congress is one of the largest events in the industry, opening up numerous opportunities for dialogue, B2B, and G2B meetings with major companies and government agencies of Kazakhstan.
